Jason Mahaney
VOTE Jason Mahaney for District 3 Brevard County Commissioner
First, I would like to tell you a little about myself: I was born in Tennessee and lived in a small town about the size of Grant-Valkaria. In the 1980's my family moved to Florida, where I graduated from Melbourne High School. I then moved to New York, just 20 miles outside New York City. This was quite a shock to my system and as soon as possible I relocated back to Brevard County, as I decided this is the lifestyle I wanted. In the late 1990's I attended Brevard Community College (BCC) for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and went on to get my Paramedic license. While going to school I worked part-time for a NASA subcontractor in Titusville, where I continued to work full time after College. While working in Titusville I met my wife and we now have three children. I live less than four miles from the Indian River Lagoon and when I have free time you will find me out there fishing or boating with my family. However, when it is Baseball/Softball Season you will find me at the field coaching my children's teams. In order to be home at night and work closer, I went to work for the City of Palm Bay so I could spend more time with my family. I began working for the City of Palm Bay in 2005 as a Building Inspector and then transferred to my current position as a Plans Examiner. To further my education I went back to school to obtain International Certification and Florida licenses in all building trades. After working in the Building Industry I understand the importance of controlled affordable growth. In 2006 I was elected to the Town of Grant-Valkaria Council where I have been since incorporation. When the Town first incorporated we had no employees so it was up to the Council to handle the Town obligations and duties until we could hire a qualified staff. Since the incorporation I have been a part of forming the Town from ground up from everyday operations to the final budget. It is apparent in order to meet the expectations of the residents you have to listen. When I was elected as a Councilman it was to represent the residents. I can proudly say this is my second term and I am there for them and when elected Commissioner I will be there for you.
